Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website shop.
I'd like this to be a useful reference for anyone who's thinking of starting a website, as well as hopefully making us the occasional commission! My customers are mostly small businesses and startups (like me), so I've featured companies and products they might find good value and useful. If there's another type of product you'd like to see investigated and reviewed here, or something you'd like to recommend, please contact me and I'll see what I can do.

Computer Equipment

If you're interested in new computer equipment, here's a round up of some useful places to start looking (some of the big names):

PC World

PC World. The name says it all really.

Misco

I was very pleased to discover this website. Misco.co.uk has a good range of deals on computers, software, PDAs, cameras, phones and other electronic equipment.

Dell

Dell. The first computer I ever had at work was from Dell and I never had problems with it. Which is more than I can say for the second computer I had at work that wasn't from Dell and caught fire while I was on my lunch break.

Apple

Apple Store. They're keen to plug iTunes, but I like their computers, especially the see-through ones.

Hewlett Packard

Hewlett Packard. For a while I lived in Silicon Valley at the height of the dot com boom. (And no, somehow we didn't get rich, in fact for a short time we lived in our truck). But what an adventure - and what a fantastic world that was! And while I was there I happened to meet the wife of one of the founding members of Hewlett Packard, who was using some of the money they made to set up a programme called Redwood City School Volunteers. I volunteered for summer school with that programme, reading with the children and so on. So I still always want Hewlett Packard to do well.

Computer Repairs, Upgrades and Accessories

Part Master

Partmaster. If you've got any equipment that needs parts replacing or upgrading, the Partmaster website looks very handy to me.

The next piece of computer equipment we're planning to buy is the Western Digital MyBook 250GB external hard drive, which will be used for data storage and regular backups of Beach Web Design's hosted websites.

Misco

I've been having a look around the Misco website, and within 5 minutes found a camera I was looking at in the High Street this afternoon for £30 less, a computer for less than £300 and a phone / answerphone in the clearance section that looks like an ideal replacement for ours. So I would recommend Misco.
